Default Big trouble in trying to get to indo-china.

I want to start a new career in the Far east, but I'm having some issues.

First off, I want to sail from Lorient to Penang, but I'm having timing issues. *If I start too early (Spring 43), I'm having torpedo issues (see below), If I start too late (July 43), the upgrades to the boat after my shakedown spin take me past the transfer date, and I get ported to Penang (I think, i didn't even check which harbor I started from as the torpedo issues below made me quit).

As to the torpedo issues.*

When I started in the spring, I upgraded from a IXC to a IXd2 for free, but clicking on the torpedo options in base caused a CTD, multiple times. *When I started in July, and after my shakedown 'cruise' (dunno if the bug was there, I loaded and quit without checking), I went to upgrade my equipment, and there were no torpedo tubes available! *I do not mean there weren't any eels in the warehouse, i mean there were no slots to put them in my boat! *Double clicking the type 1 eel would go through the normal equipment procurement process, and it would act like I loaded an eel, it would even tell me I already have that.

When setting sail,. I had no eels on the boat,. no torpedo tubes, and no tube lights on the scope/UZO. *

I Tried a rollback of SHC (rare for me), no luck. *

Now, I cannot connect this phone to my computer, nor can I get the computer on the net right now (both long stories), so linking the file I screwed up to download won't work. *If somebody could point me in the right direction in the .cfg's, and post up how the default IXD2 should be configured in the .cfg, it would be greatly appreciated. *

EDIT: No idea where thsoe *'s came from, but Anyways, I have used that external app called torpedo, which allows you to edit eel loadouts easier. I did use that to reset all to default, but as I'm browsing the .cfg, I see A LOT of boats have 0 tubes and reserves listed..... hmmmm....

Okay, while digging through the basic.cfg file, I found this oddity, along with some other similar 'typos':

Quote:
;[SUBMARINE_AMMO10] ; IXD2
[SUBMARINE_AMMO90
Theres a couple of 'headers' like that that seem messed up, along with a couple whole boats commented (;'d) out. *

So Should the header look like:

Quote:
[SUBMARINE_AMMO10]; IXD2
;[SUBMARINE_AMMO90]
Yes?

Edit: Looks like I may have to reinstall everything and rebuild the setup. There are dozen of random 'typos' and such throughout my basic.cfg. Things like "YEAR=194----1|. Game ran fine up until tonight though......

Edit2; no joy. Fixing the headers like that had no affect

Sorry that I cannot help you; but I just have to commend you on the word play of one of my favorite bad/good movies.

I am an admirer James Hong, 82 years of age and still doing comedic martial arts roles, although with a panda lately.

Hope you get it sorted out.

Oh, I thought you might have.

People either like it or don't, its very tongue-in-cheek. Just think of Kurt Russell playing a character who thinks he is Snake Plissken but is totally confused with all the magic mumbo jumbo, can't do anything right, and is constantly having his hide saved by his sidekicks.

It looks better on the big screen than on video

Happens all the time. Happens to everybody. They drift, and they drift back.

And since Gargamel, who started the thread, also joined in, it's obvious that we have at least his tacit approval.

As long as I get some help solving the OP.... short of reinstalling, I'm stuck.
