Earlier I posted a question regarding ship speed and many of you were most helpful in giving me answers. I forgot to ask about sub speeds - what are the relative speeds in terms of Standard, Flank, etc.? I'm looking for a handy chart to access when attempting to intercept convoys.
Thank you! |

You could have asked this question also as a reply to your own thread. But anyway, the answer is also in a config file. Actually each submarine class has their own file, in their own specific folder. It's in:
C:\Program Files\Silent Hunter 4\Data\Submarine\NSS_SUBCLASSname\NSS_SUBCLASSname.cfg The throttle settings are in fractions of maximum speed when either surfaced or submerged. For example, Gato class: Quote:

Well, if I were a new skipper, I'd checked the actual speeds .vs book speeds on my own, right out of port on my boat's maiden voyage. I'd set the speed on each specific setting, wait several minutes and then check to see what my actual speed for that setting is.
![]() That's what I still do since all the different types of subs may differ by a small amount. It also gives me something to do. ![]()

That's what I was going to suggest; simply setting the telegraph and then seeing how fast you go.

I've piloted subs, both American and German since 2007 and have never memorized speeds at different throttle settings though all the changes in the mods I've used and updates of those mods which often fiddled with throttle settings. It just has never mattered to me.
If I want to go a certain speed, I click the tab below the throttle and select the speed I want. Most other times I don't care what the speed is, I'm picking throttle settings based on fuel economy.
