Hello everyone!
I've been lurking here for a while and have really appreciated the advice and mods available, however I'm now in need of some assistance. A couple of days ago SH3 abruptly decided to refuse to load, despite me not having any problems for the 2 months I've been playing it for. I'm running the Steam version with Windows 7 with GWX 3 and several mods, however I'd made no changes or installed anything new on my PC at all between the last time I played and when the problem first came up. Now the initial loading screen bar gets to about halfway before it CTDs. I've checked the event log and got the following: Fault bucket 572030508, type 1 Event Name: APPCRASH Response: Not available Cab Id: 0 Problem signature: P1: sh3.exe P2: 1.4.0.1 P3: 42ae9b3e P4: FileManager.dll P5: 0.0.0.0 P6: 42ae9924 P7: c0000005 P8: 00004432 P9: P10: Attached files: C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\Temp\WER25CC.tmp.WER InternalMetadata.xml These files may be available here: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive \AppCrash_sh3.exe_8df0d9215057a42bf97efc19d176437b b63ed1ab_138e51db Analysis symbol: Rechecking for solution: 0 Report Id: 32e4a940-25dd-11e1-af95-00262d1b344b Report Status: 0 I've tried reinstalling everything twice, and replacing the Filemanager.dll file in the modded version with a version from a clean install but it's still not playing ball. Does anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks! Tailmange |

No, it wouldn't load at all, just CTD'd on the very first loading screen.
Anyway, I've now tried loading a new career through Commander and it works fine so I'm guessing it was just my original career which had the problem. Unfortunately I've now got a separate issue which means the sky is always at night time no matter what the time is. I'm going to try disabling and re-enabling my mods and see if that works, if not I'll have to reinstall everything again. ARGH! |

You can set Commander to perform a rollback automatically each time you exit by selecting Auto Rollback in Commander's options. If you don't select Auto Rollback, there is also an option to roll things back manually at your own discretion. If you go with manual rollbacks, it's advisable to do them before making any changes to your game files, whether by manually editing them or by enabling/disabling mods in JSGME. Your best bet is to select Auto Rollback and let Commander do it every time. There are very rare instances where someone has a problem that is fixed by not using Auto Rollback at all, but generally speaking it's the safest choice. ![]() |

Since your using Steam, let me add this caveat to FK's (very acccurate) suggestion:
If SHC is not closing when you launch SH3, DO NOT set it to auto rollback. I have found that doing this causes weird issues that might be caused by SHC rolling back some files that it shouldn't. My copy of SHC relaunches just after i hit the launch SH3 button, but before SH3 can come up. I think it's due to a steam related delay. I ONLY rollback befre adding a new mod, while in port. Never at sea. I've lost a couple careers from rolling back while at sea. While i will admit I have not heard of anybody else actually having these same issues, it is the work around I have to deal with. |

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I tried the rollback method but it didn't solve the problem, so I reinstalled everything again. Now the sky is fine but the 'won't load at all' problem has returned!
I've got a feeling it's something to do with my careers, since the filemanager.dll is apparently linked to that, so I'm just going to try deleting everything relating to SH3 from my PC and starting all over again from scratch. Luckily I just got killed in my main career, so I'm not really losing anything. Still pretty annoying though! I'll report back once I've finished. |

Ok, after a lot of work I've determined that the night sky error is somehow being caused by the OLC Gold mod. I've retried downloading it and installing it through JSGME again but it still comes up with the same issue, even with no other mods installed apart from GWX. GWX by itself is fine though.
Does anyone have an idea what might be happening? I've been using OLC Gold for about 2 months with no issues, until now. Please help, I need to SINK 'EM ALL! |
