GWX removes the colors from the contacts on the map so something else you've got there must replace them, but I don't know what... the only mod I know that does that for sure is the Contact Color mod.

I would say, look through the folders in your mod list and see if any of them contain data/Sea & data/Air folders with alternate xxxx_shp.tga files for all the different units... and also see what files they are changing (if any) in the data/Menu/Gui folder... since those are the only things Contact Color overwrites. Sorry I can't remember which set of files controls the color of icons on the map.

O.K. ...

The culprit seems to be the ACM Lite Map

When I un-install it I get the grey contact icons BUT at the same time I can't zoom in close enough to make out harbours ... the ACM Lite Map allows the zoom with the harbours BUT it also includes the colored contact marks

I have looked in the file but I have no idea what makes the contact colors ... can someone help me please

I'm not familiar with that mod at all... what folders/files are in it?

Edit: you might also try sending a PM to the modder who made it, he's not posted in a couple months but might still be checking in. His profile is here:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/member.php?u=244231

The info on the mod says it returns the colors to the contacts, so it would just be a matter of identifying which files. I suspect it's the xxxx_shp.tga files in all the data\Air and data\Sea subfolders, does ACM Lite Map include those? If so the first think might be to delete those from the mod and re-enable it and see what happens. The .tga files shouldn't have anything to do with the zoom features for your harbors.

Best bet would be to make a copy of the original mod and rename it, then use that one to fiddle with and test in-game so you've always got the original to refer to if you go nuts and forget what you took out and what you didn't.

Danke Frau Kaleun ...

I sent a P.M. earlier but have yet to hear back from the creator

The ACM Lite Map folder contains a Data Folder

The Data Folder contains a Menu and Submarine Folder

The Menu Folder contains a cfg and Gui Folder ... the cfg Folder contains a Maps CFG File and the Gui Folder contains a Units Folder and a ContLine Truevision Targa Image File ... inside the Units Folder there are 24 TrueVision Targa Image Files ... The Submarine Folder has 8 Folder's all NSS and the Uboat type with a Truevision Targa Image File in each

I know that with this folder in place I have the zoom feature and the color contacts and when removed I do not so I'm thinkin' this has the be the folder thats cause'N the problems
