Default Future of SH 5

With Dan's departure from Ubisoft, does this mean that all official support for SH5, including patches has ceased?

There was almost none official Support for this game.
And whatever there was, was not worth being called Support!

Not surprising. I had to ask.

Support ceased shortly after release. Just a quick patch to add or fix a few things and it was dropped.

Ubi took quite a lashing for the state of the game and the DRM. Don't think they thought it had much of a future.

Yup. There hasn't been support from Ubi for a long, long time. We are looking at the final version.

"...final" version?

Sounds like they jumped ship because of the volume of negative reviews. With Dan leaving Ubisoft, I can only assume that the franchise is dead and if we want another submarine simulation, the community will have to band together, create its own dev company and publish it. There are enough mod developers here to try it.

BTW Takeda, shouldn't your avatar be Shingen himself rather than Nobunaga?

My work has a saying for me:

When trouble arises and things look bad
There is always one individual who perceives a solution
and is willing to take command
Very often, that individual is crazy.

Sums me up perfectly

Maybe. I just assumed that it was a random samurai. This avatar was a gift from Neal when I took a sabatical from moderating; his way of saying 'thank you'. I respect him for all that he does for us and the naval simulation community at large, and so I am proud to wear it regardless of who it may or may not be. Besides, I think it looks cool.

Yep. A few years back, every moderator used to have a uniform avatar. It was this one:

It was done so that when you saw it, you knew that you were talking to a mod. Rather than put me back in the standard avatar list, which changes based on your number of posts, he gave me this one. It used to just say 'Samurai'. However, when I came back to moderating, things had changed and moderators had individual avs. Neal always liked the personal touch better. So, he kept it and changed it to read 'Samurai Moderator'.

Anyway, enough story time with Tak. I tend to rant on about this kind of stuff if not kept in check.

EDIT: By the way guys, given some recent PMs it seems that some people may be confused--I am a moderator, not a modder. I just keep the forums clean and the members orderly. Guys like TheDarkWraith actually make the mods. They're the real stars around here.
