Default auto targeting

When running auto targeting does the notepad provide any information at all? Or does it stay blank? I ask as I do not remember as I have not played for a long time.

If you're going to do manual targeting, I highly recommend using the OLC gui; its sole purpose is to improve the speed and accuracy of which you can get a firing solution. My manual targeting is on the poor side to begin with, using OLC has been the only time I've managed to hit where I've aimed.

IIRC, on 'auto' it provides ship id, range, speed and AOB. Everything an up and coming kaleun needs to make a big splash!

My question regards the 'notepad' display when on auto - is it supposed to display any auto inputs on range, bearing etc. or remain blank? I cannot tell if I have a bug or not.

'IIRC' - just looked up what that means. So if the 'notepad' does not show any information - then I have a bug? or issue?

If you are using auto-targeting then, yeah, you should get ID/speed/distance/AOB info in the notepad automatically, for sure it should be there if you are able to lock onto a ship in the peri or UZO.

I don't know if having the option for Weapons Officer assistance checked makes any difference though, if you have that checked maybe you have to ask him to ID the ship first?

Yes, that is what I recalled. I have checked and unchecked the Weapons Officer in the realisim settings to no effect. I will ask him to ID the vessel and revert back.

Is there a folder / file I can reference? There could be a corruption?
  • I have tried different U-Boats and crews
  • I tried instant missions
  • I have checked and unchecked Weapons Officer in realisim settings
  • I have toggled manual and auto plotting
No data appears on the blank notepad when on auto settings - no range, no bearing, etc.
when using scope or UZO.

The only data on the notepad is an ID of the type of vessel the cross hairs are on.

And, I cannot hit squat now.

Thoughts anyone? File checks?

What other mods are you running? As I recall, there is one that does remove that info, and only gives the ID you are getting. I do not remember what it was but, someone will I'm sure.

enu_menu: could a corruption in a line there be the issue? Did changing the TDC in game from manual to automatic corrupt anything?

2247=Manual input on/off ???

2356=Disable target identification and torpedo solution made by weapon officer????

Different GUI's will remove the automatic display of AOB, distance and speed of target. The stock GWX doesn't do that. You'll need to lock onto the target either with the UZO of attack periscope with the "l" key (lower case L) and that should automatically show all the information. I suck at manual targeting so always use the weapons officer (I have one, might as well put him to work) and then you just need to click on his icon and the find solution to target and you're good to go.

Hmmm, with that being said have you tried a reinstall of the game (both SH3 and GWX)? When all else fails empty the magazine

Reinstalling is always an option - better to find the folder and file and fix the corrupt line.

I will await to see if anyone knows which folder and file. (i.e. enu_menu)

THIS SHOULD BE A FILE CORRUPTION THAT CAN BE EASILY FIXED I DO BELIEVE.
