Default SH3 Trouble Shoot

Whenever I play SH3 and have to save, straight after loading the mission and playing for a few seconds suddenly it just says 'U-Boat Abandoning Mission' or 'U-Boat Surrenders'. Anyone can tell me why this happens and how i could fix it? thanks.

IIRC, if you are too close to a friendly port (within 20km approx.) the option changes from save and exit, to "dock at XXX" which ends your current patrol. The next time you launch it would give you a null grid instead of the patrol grid you had the previous save.

This is all from a foggy memory though, so I could be mistaken. To be on the safe side I always wait until I'm well away from any ports before saving.

EDIT - Sorry. Reread the post more carefully and realized that it's AFTER launching the mission that you surrender. I had a mod a while ago on my old computer (can't remember the name) that had to do with realistic sub damage. It didn't want to play nice with one of my other mods and the result was that ANY rough seas would break my ship within a few seconds of loading. I uninstalled it right away and never had that problem again. It wasn't too important to me so I never bothered looking more carefully into which mod it conflicted with so I unfortunately can't be more help to you than that. It's a mod conflict as far as I can tell.
