'Pieces of Tangier'

Hey gents, as some may know I live on a tiny piece of Virginia in the middle of
the Chesapeake Bay. We were recently visited by a young lady interested in
helping get the word out about the danger of this tiny island disappearing from
the face of the earth.

We are losing about 9 acres and sink about a 10th of an inch a year and no it
doesn't have anything to do with global warming. This has been going on long
before John Smith recorded it's location in 1608.

To give an example what can be done research Poplar Island Maryland. From just
a few acres of swamp. The Corps of Engineers managed to turn it into 1100 acres
27 feet above sea level of dry land for a bird sanctuary.

Jenny's preliminary work is at the youtube link below. Any donations she requests is to help her with her work only and studies. But we sure do need some publicity.
