Is there such a mod that increases the rank of the captain in silent hunter 3 the grey wolves. Only ranks available seem to be leutenant and oberleutenant.

There are higher ranks available, (such as korvettenkapitan), but to attain them you need to blow up a lot of stuff.

Not sure about a specific mod, but there is a fairly easy way to 'mod' it manually. Simply navigate to 'SH3\data\Menu\en_menu.txt,' (or de_menu.txt if you play in German), and scroll down to the following section:

170=Leutnant z. S.; Oberleutnant z. S.
171=Oberleutnant z. S.; Kapitänleutnant
172=Kapitänleutnant; Korvettenkapitän
173=Korvettenkapitän; Fregattenkapitän

Backup the file and then if you want to accelerate promotion, simply move a higher rank into a lower slot. Such as:

170=Oberleutnant z. S.
171=Kapitänleutnant
172=Korvettenkapitän
173=Fregattenkapitän
