This must mean they attract depth charges and sink fast.

Don't for 1 second underestimate diesel/electric subs. They're quieter than nuclear subs and more difficult to detect.

Don't forget their strategy for these subs.. local defense is their game..
They're forming a 'curtain' around Iran and wherever and it'll be risky for any sub/ship trying to penetrate this curtain.

The west's only option is IR satelite observation as these subs must surface.. and very patient attack sub commanders. BUT with many 'bees' buzzing around they might overwhelm the attack subs

Air superiority will be paramount and superior tactics will rule here

Granted, tracking diesel boats is a bit trickier than nukes, they are operating in some of the worst waters any sub can operate in. It is worse than the English Channel. It is very shallow compared to most other major littoral areas. I agree that aerial recon would be pivotal, but once they were detected, they have nowhere to really hide. I agree that underestimating them is not wise, but it is equally foolish to overestimate them, too.
