Because of the savegame issue, I had to use "silentotto" to unlock "OpenHorizons" and was given a VIIC/41 without any engine upgrades. Now its topspeed is only around 17 kts, a bit too slow when chasing a single merchant.
Is there any way I can bring my 24 kts VIIB into "OpenHorizons" without savegame issue?? The savegame issue here is when I was in Black Pit, I enabled Open Horizons mod, and when I continued career after finished Black Pit, I found that I can save progress in Open Horizons but can not load the savegame I saved previously(CTD), how to solve the problem? Or is there any way to change a VIIB for me which engine can be upgraded in Open Horizons? |

24 kts for a 7C is fairly unrealistic, you can race a destroyer with that speed. If you had that speed previously is because you upgraded your motor engineer abilities and when you start a new campaign with silentotto you start from 0 and loose all upgrades.
You have to play the campaign for a while and gather upgrade points to be able to make your engineer to boost your engine to that speed again, is not something you can buy with renown points in the bunker. |

VIIC/41´s speed is of course in Open Horizons OK Chevelless. Your 24 knots is very unrealistic:

the 24 knot top speed is not from engine upgrade. The speed increase from 17 to 24 is from Crew Skill.

In reality, the top speed of VIIC/41 probably never exeeded 18 knots. Those magic skills are just rudiculous

depends... Maybe he hired Harry Potter as a chief engineer?
There's also a special crew ability in wich you can ask the chief to sacrifice Bernard with a voodoo knife and spill his blood on the diesel engine and then you get massive supercharging of +50 knots. |

![]() But...how many "Bernard" do we need to sacrifice for a high-speed patrol ? (' guess we don't need no sacrifices anymore for the return path of our patrol, 17 knots would be a nice return speed - don't use the last Bernard, he's needed to keep diesel running !!!)

that all hinges on the assumption that somebody taught him the "topspeedachangio" charm.

Thank you guys!=)
Yeap I know 24 knot is a bit too fast for a realistic U boat, but some ships run faster then me and occasionally, not easy to catch up with them. And it not very convenient to man the deckgun of VIIC/41 ![]() |
