I personally prefer IXC, for the reason that it has good reach, more eels, powerful deck gun, stable in rough weather, there is a link here to read more about what others think of various submarines, in the Games,but at the end of the war, I can imagine that switching to a XXI or a similar.

Edit: As for the why, 'cause they dive quicker and turn on a tighter radius!

Aux contrare my friend, I 'mod' my seven so it can carry just as many eels as a large boat without sacrificing any of the maneuverability... Best of both worlds...
