Default Eurocopter X3

Just came across this, looks like the method's been perfected. Can't wait to see one in real life

Looking at that footage leads me to believe it will probably beat the speed record set by the Lynx.

Edit: May have already been beaten by the Sykorsky X2 LOL.

You know, I'm generally a Europhile and down with the European experiment but I would like someone in the parliament to bring a motion that ban the use of the word 'Euro' as a prefix to everything. It's silly.

Having said that, it's a funky looking helicopter - even if it does look a wee bit like a lynx with jet engines glued onto the sides.

See, that's much cooler. I can imagine Dan Dare riding that to his space ship launch site.

Question?

How is the torque of the main rotor compensated for in this design?

I did think that when I saw it, I checked the direction of the two outboard props and they seemed to be opposing each other. The only thing I can think of at the moment is that one or both compensate - whether it's geared or variable pitch blades, who knows?
