Default newb questions

hi im new, especially to SH5. Can I get some help?

First of all is magnus opus worth it? Are all the good mods covered there? like this or something similar http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=163930 How about the IRAI mod?

Second, are there any bug-fix community patches around?

Third, I just come from SH3 GWX 3.. I was drawn here by the graphics. I tried playing this game vanilla p. 1.2 but
a) the hydrophone was seemingly useless.
b) why doesn't the game stop when a ship, especially an enemy one, comes in range like on SH3?

hehe This is not a joke: once I heard an explosion and slowed down from 1024x speed and found myself ramming a British cruiser which was shooting at me!

magnum opus is a must have mod.... critical torpedoes it is not in magnum opus... irai is at version 0.30 now... in short time we will have version 1.0 ... in my opinion irai is the brain of sh5... in magnum opus you have a lot of mods that are like patches... in meantime moders made a lot of nice mods that you can add after magnum opus
the hydrophone is ok now and is quite realistic in my opinion... you can make settings in the option.py(if you will use tdw intreface) or in main.cfg file (from mydocuments/sh5) and your tc will drop at 1 when you will be at some distance from ships, land etc... search this link from here to see what mods people use to play sh5 right now... but the mods are changing very fast also... so keep an eye all the time on the workshop section:

In the case of TC, so it is not, from my point of view to recommend high speeds, I rarely use more than 32 or none at all, real time is best, but that's my point,

ok thanks guys! a few more questions if u dont mind

1. Should I download IRAI and put it below MO in JSGME?
2. In SH5 MO, is it possible to take down a larger merchant with 1 torpedo hit like in SH3? Like, if your torpedo explodes right under it or hit the fuel bunker?
3. Do magnetic torpedos work?

1) yes
2) yes and no. Critical hits are just like in SH3. The torpedo will never explode under keel because magnetic detonators are broken in SH5
3) No
4) use my SH5.exe patches. It will fix the hydrophone. You also need to download the sub AI hydro fix.

ahh thanks. last 2 questions:

1. in MO I couldn't find the weapons officer and the chief of the crew (that sergeant type of guy) inside the sub.. is this ntended?
2. are u guys working on fixing the magnetic torpedoes?

1. they are there
2. the only was to possibly fix is to patch the sh5.exe (and I don't have time to mess with that currently). I have been playing with an idea to quazi-fix it though.
