I downloaded this mod from http://www.gamefront.com/files/user/JimbunaGWX2/
It is a single file named GWX-Contact_color.7z It is supposed to return the colors and directional tails which GWX removes from the ship icons on the map. I dropped the file into a new folder and added the folder to JSGME, moved it to the "activate" side, and JSGME says it activated it. However, I still have only grey map icons without tails. At the time of attempted activation, my career character's boat was back in port, with the completed patrol saved, and I had closed and exited SH3. Even starting a new career with a different character, the icons remain grey and tailess. I'd drop the .7z file into the appropriate SH3 folder if I knew which one it was. What am I doing wrong, or is there a different mod that does this?

Unzip the file you have downloaded into the 'MODS' folder based within your game installation then when you open JSGME it should be in the left hand column awaiting activation.

First and foremost - I'm using Window7 (64 bit)
JSGME 1.5.0.60 was downloaded and saved to the GWX SH3 root directory (c:/SH3 GWX/SilentHunterIII) and initially run from there. I updated it to 2.60.157, saving the update to the GWX SH3 root directory and overwriting 1.5.0.60. I accepted the default storage folder MODS and it created said folder (but not a BACKUPS folder). The Contact Color mod file from GameFront downloads as a single raw, non-zipped file with the .7z extension. There is no subfolder structure, which makes me think the file is not prepared to use with JSGME, and I have no idea how to remedy that. I've downloaded other files for different mods from that same site and they were all just raw .7z files. I know of no SH3 files with such an extension. Because JSGME can not see a raw file, even in MODS, I created a Contact Color subfolder in MODS and copied the GWX-Contact_Color.7z file into it. When I re-started JSGME, I had to tell it to import it to the "Available" side (it did not find it on its own). I moved it to the "Activated" side and closed JSGME. When I started SH3, the icons were unchanged - still gray and tailless. I'm at a loss. ![]() If needed, I can supply a complete list of what I did from the original DL and setup of JSGME, but would probably do that via PM raher than take up forum space.

The .7z extension means the download should be a compressed file containing the mod... which should be JSGME-ready once the contents of the compressed file have been extracted.
The Contact Color mod should be a folder named GWX - Contact Color which would be dropped into the MODS folder in the game directory. Inside that primary folder would be the data folder, inside that three folders named Air, Menu, and Sea respectively. Copying the .7z file into your MODS folder won't work, it's the intended contents of that file that you need to put there. Either there's a problem with the .7z files that you're getting, or else something's going wrong with the extraction process. ![]() Have you tried downloading the mod from Downloads here? That's where I got my copy, and it definitely has the stuff in it that you should get when you do the extraction. It should be a .7z file of around 44 Kb. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...?do=file&id=33 Also, what are you using to extract the contents of the zipped file? I use Winzip and it's never given me any trouble, but I don't know if all such programs support the .7z format. If you don't have a program that recognizes the file type then that may be the problem. |

Downloaded again from Subsim. Got the same 44 Kb .7z file I got from GameFront.
WINZIP 8.1 SR-1 does not recognize (or list) the .7z extension as a zipped file type. ![]() I'm open to alternate zip programs...........
