What exactly is everything? And how did it respond. Feedback about why it might not work is crucial. Sh3 doesn't have an issue with Windows 7 perse. Which version is it anyway? v1 or v1.4, some Steam edition? Your info is not enough to help.

The game always givs an error message ("only running on Windows 2000, xp..."), no matter what I did.

If I'm right I got Windows 7 ultimate.

If you are installing from an old, original disk, the StarForce copy protection (I think that is what it was called) is incompatible with Windows.

There is a way to uninstall it, but it is simpler to buy a new, clean copy for like $10.

Not to be a goon or anything, but have you checked the "Windows 7 and Vista troubleshooting" sticky above?

Iirc, I've seen the "will only run under windows 2000" thing in a previous thread.

Thanks, I saw it! I'll try the 1.4b European patch-hopefully this will work. I must admit, that I'm not a highly experienced computer genius, so reprogramming the entire system, that some users suggest just won't do!

If you're still having issues you may need to remove the Starforce driver prior to a fresh install. If so, you can download it here:

Hope you get it running!

I have original Starforce riddled disk and following the sticky about installing and SF removal did it for me just fine.

Don't for get your Supermod of choice and SH3 Commander

why you say that Jimbuna?

I have had SH3 running on W7 for well over a year, with no problems. I did have a problem getting it installed, just getting sound and blank screen - but that was fixed by changing the display resolution and it has worked perfectly ever since. I have the NOCD tweak applied, so maybe that has something to do with it as well

Oh sorry, I misread; you are not saying that SH3 is incompatible, just starforce - 'umble apologies - takes foot out of mouth and retreats bowing low
