I remember him as well. My sister watched these guys all the time. I remember Junkyard Dog especially. Probably because he would howl a bit during his act.

He was a classic.

Used to watch him when I was a kid:

Could not find a match with him, but found one of an
early Bret hart.

You know you're getting old when folks start calling classic that you remember as being the new guys.

Chief Jay Strongbow
Professor Tanaka
Andre the Giant
Bruno Sanmartino
Gorilla Monsoon

Now THOSE guys are the classics!

I remember him too, that's when they air Wrestling over here every Saturday night I was a big fan of wrestling never missed a series. Then in the 1990s they stopped airing it on TV. Hasn't been back since.

RIP.

I assume he fell asleep at the wheel. a tragic accident.

He was an entertainer and he gave his fans what they wanted.

Gorgeous George, he had a restaurant on on Ventura Blvd. and it was painted bright purple. Wild Red Berry, Dr. what's his name???? had the near fatal "Sleeper Hold". Ahhh back in the days when fake wrestling was real.

Back in '99 I was working driving the ski vans, and in the summer I helped arrange tours. We had a visit from wrasslin' promoter Mean Gene, who was in town scouting locations for his restaurant. He and two wrassler buddies were wearing T-shirts that said "Mean Gene's" on the front. On the back they read "The Burger That Says 'Bite Me'"
