Default How can I move the stopwatch location and the pause game location

1. How can I move the stop watch location down a couple of inches and to the left a couple of inches? It appears next the small icons that indicate my boat is submerged, etc. in OM, and I have to move it to use it. It is driving me nuts. I may defect to the allies if I don't get relief.

2. I want to move the "pause game" notice that pops up when you pause the game (didn't know that, did you?). It pops up smack in the center of the KIUB interface dial in OM, and interferes with reading the lengths of the targets, a requirment for ascertaining a target's Aob using the Kiub wheel. It is a pain in the butt. How can I move it, or is it hard coded?

3. Bonus Question: Is there a way to get my boat to crash dive to periscope depth by tapping a single key? I tap the "C" key, followed by the "P" key currently, but I am wondering if the functions can be combined into a single key? (My fingers need a rest, as allied planes are all over the place in OM.)

(These ought to keep Jan Kyster up for awhile!)

Sigh... but alright then...

Take a look in one of these re. chronometer:

And if you have plenty of time and want to dig deeper:

The "Game Paused" is a tga/dds file, which you just need to replace with an invisible one.
Remember it was done in SHIII, but I'll be darned if I can find the file - at least right now.
But it is there... somewhere...

Re. the Crash Dive to Periscope depth... don't think it's doable with multiple commands attach to one key.
Think there were some tests going on with open all tubes at once, but without succes.

I love RAF/USAF but the Zeros otoh...
Quickest way to get her down is to press 'C', then wait untill she's at some 10 to 12 meters depth before ordering periscope depth.
If you press 'p' before, you'll get slower dives... it's like the boats halts and the crew instead goes into a "normal" dive.
But I haven't timed it.

Of course we in TMO crashdive all the way to just above crushdepth

Reality check: They couldn't crash dive to persicope depth. A normal dive means flooding the ballast tanks to a neutral or slightly negative trim so the boat settles at a gentle rate. Crash diving means fully flooding the tanks and moving all the trim ballast to the forward trim tank. The boat dives faster but it takes time to pump the ballast back to neutral trim and rebalance the water between the fore and aft trim tanks. Two hundred feet is normal for a crash dive. Anything else is, to put it mildly, unrealistic.

Maybe with the Key Mapper mod. It allows you to assign whatever keys you want to various commands, including multiple commands to one key.

You could change your C key to make it command ahead flank and periscope depth. I'm with Steve though on the reality thing.
Doesn't a screen pop up asking for you orders when a ship/aircraft is spotted? You can select what you want to do and set it as a default. Dive to periscope depth is one of those IIRC. It is a slower dive though but you don't over exert yourself pressing keys.

I use Key Mapper in SH4 and a similar one in SH3.
For example I have surface, lower whole scope(both scopes) and ahead standard on the S key. No more forgetting to lower my scope when I surface, going into TC and realizing a day later, my periscope has been up the whole time.

In SH3, I man my deck gun, fire at will, and aim at waterline with just CTRL+G.
I have a whole list of keyboard commands for both games. Saves time.

If I dive at regular speed in ATO, the aircraft gets me. And I spend most of the time fixing the demage to my beloved U-Boat. Fixing the U-Boat in ATO takes a LONG TIME, and sometimes you sink regardless. Sailor Steve is telling me I am a dead man! The best solution is too start with a crash dive, and when the boat starts submerging to shift to periscope depth. I just want to do it with one stroke of the keyboard rather than two. If the chocie is between death (and 24 virgins in heaven?) and realism, I prefer to survive.

Yeah...

It doesn't exist... It's a simple text in file menu.txt.

If you want no text on screen at all, this is the easiest place to "remove" it - just delete the letters, so the line reads: 90=

If you want it moved however, then in commands.cfg you can see it refers to a menu item 0x3F010009, which is in menu.ini - and this is where I'm at a loss right now...

Normally you move an object through the Zone-line, but either I'm too tired/stupid/whatever, but nothing seems to work...

So atm. I can't see how to move the "Game Paused", maybe later.

/edit: how fast does your 'beloved sub' dive in OM?
30 and 45 secs I faintly for a VII and IX... if divetime is enormous you *could* tune her a bit in "boat-type".sim...

Haven't seen that one... can you test if open all tubes is possible with one key, please?

And how could you forget to lower your scope??

Her's the link to Keymapper. It works for SH3, SH4, and SH5, although I use a different program for SH3 called Set Keys.

I'll check out opening all tubes at once. I believe that there is an open tube door command for each tube, so I think you should be able to assign just one key to do that. I'll give ot a try later when I have time.

As far as forgetting to lower my scope.......I'll blame age.
Most of the time it is watching a ship sink after a submerged attack, changing over to the attack map or something and surfacing and just not realizing the scope is up. It seems I've done it more with SH3 than SH4.

I'm not telling you anything other than what they had to deal with in real life. I live with it all the time, and I mean live, as opposed to dying.

Thank you!! This was really getting on me as well! I couldn't take a sceen shot from the periscope without 'Game Paused' being in the middle of the shot. Thanks again!!

Default Del key in numberpad

Hitting the 'del' key in the number pad removes the HUD dials AND the "Game Paused "letters. I've often paused and taken "clean" screenshots without having to modify anything.
