Default Quick Question

Ok so I stopped playing Silent Hunter 5 a while back. Everything was running great, and I was happy. However, recently it's started to get worse and worse with this one game. Everything else runs spectacular. I run everything on High as well. I have modded my game in the past, but uninstalled all of them and then re-downloaded the game. Got a fresh copy, same problem. It's not my computer because I run more advanced games Ex: Crysis with no problem at all, I run Crysis on ultra high settings and get around 30 to 50 frames. I don't know why I'm getting this problem. Anyone know of any solutions?

I can't help you, to be honest my game has taken a steady decline in fps as well. To the point its almost unplayable. And I run a monster of a system, that chews everything up on max settings, and I can't even get Silent Hunter to run anymore with AA enabled without looking like a slide show.

As long as you don't run ATI I think you should be able to run it fairly well. But I know it plays like GARBAGE on both my ATI systems. including my beast 5870. I've got an older slower, sadder computer that can run sh5 ok.. with a nivida card and windows xp.

Oh and for some reason the windows 7 update KILLS silent hunter performance.

Like I said, runs on smooth on XP. lol.

But the stronger fasters more modern computers seem to be getting worse at handling it. if that makes any sense. A month ago I was running sh5 with all maxed and Loads of mods. Now I can't get it to run with just the mega mod. without turning into a 10 fps sludge fest. Sadly i've monitored my system and its barely taking a any load when running sh5 so figure that out.

Run the in game shadow slider on half .
Graphic card settings AA mode = Multi sample AA
With the mega mod install the optional shadow mod lite . (found in patch 2 of the mega mod patch)

runs fine on my Win7 Ultimate 64bit system with nVidia GTX480. I am at 60fps (v-sync enabled) and everything on high @ 1920 X 1200. I did not install service pack 1 though. Never install a service pack from Microsoft when they first release it. You are a BETA tester if you do

Seems SH5 is funny. Runs fine on some systems and horrid on others.

SH5 ran great on my single core athlon 3500+. with just one small problem....

When i had a large convoy on my hydro, the game would drop to about 2fps...
This was prob because my single core cpu was far below the min specs for the game.

So I bought a new Mobo and CPU. A phenom 965 (four cores) and I had really bad lag, stuttering etc. My FPS were jumping from around 30 fps to 150 fps.

ANTI LAG .dll fixed this for me by locking my FPS to 35.

Now SH5 runs smooth on my system.

I guess SH5 isn't optimized very well.
