Recommended mods for new player
Greetings folks,
I'm looking for advice on a good set of mods to bring SH5 to a 'finished' state. I'm new to sub siming so I'm not capable of manually doing targeting, etc. However I do want to make SH5 more historically accurate in terms of damage/flooding, environment, sub/ship/aircraft performance, etc without overloading the 'learning curve'. I searched without luck for an existing thread of this nature. My apologies if it's out there and I didn't find it. In that case please just provide a link. Thanks in advance! John E. |

The other guys have directed you to the proper mods threads, but I'll leave a few words here just as a "noob's advice".
Download the megamod - Magnum Opus is a megamod that combines over a couple dozen mods into one nice package. This will cover probably 90% of your requests. You'll get a nice UI with options, along with auto-tdc (similar to SH4 style) which is very easy to use. As for special effects, well, I won't spoil the surprise ![]() While its true the TDW's mods get a lot of publicity on this forum, there are other UI mods available if TDW's doesn't suit your fancy. When it comes to sound mods you've got options, you can go with a Das Boot sound mod or (my personal favorite) you can get a sound effects mod like Caphelm's Audio Mod or Steel Vikings Capthelm + SV Audio Touch ups. There are also many, many, many other mods you can get into. My mod list in comparison to others is quite small, but modding and subsims is always a work in progress, and I think the more I get into playing this simulator, the longer the mod list is going to get! My last piece of advice. . . .READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. This is the most important part. Once you've got the system down it won't be so bad, but the initial process of getting your mods in order can be a real migraine if you don't read the instructions. |
