As some of you know I have returned to playing SH III (GWX gold). In the past I have just used my Weapons Officer for targeting and haven't bothered to aquire the manual targeting skills.
I have decided to make the leap and start doing that on my own. I am using Wazoo's Manual Charting and Targeting tutorial to learn this process. I'm starting to plot my targets and when I get to the point where I have aquired my target and then "open ship registry to look for your target. Once found, make sure to check the box so the mast height is entered on the notepad". On my targeting notepad I don't see a mast height box to check. Do any of you experienced Captains have a suggestion? Thank you for your help. Scott |

Check the box in the ship registry, not in the notepad.

the box you have to check is not on the notepad but on the Recognition Manual. When you chech the box in upper-right corner of it, the identification (end thus the mast height) is entered. Then, the mast height should appear on the notepad when you click to use the stadimeter wire.
If you want to turn to fully manual targeting, wou might want to try one of thee GUI mods. They are done to allow better manual targeting... and rely mostly (OLC and MaGUI) on the automated identification by your Weapons Officer, or on no identification at all (the Hitman's one, which il closer to the stock interface in it's general layout byt may be more difficult, at least at the beginning).
