Default RE: download version of SH5

Hi, I was thinking of purchasing the game via download and was wondering if this is this the same thing as Steam? By playing the download version will I have problems with mods? Is it better to get a hard copy instead. Thanks

I have puchased the game via download and no problems so far with nothing - i think it is not diference how you buy the game - between a cd and a down version it must to be not a diference

I think that, like Steam, the only difference is the folder to which you'll install your mods.

So are all downloaded vesrsions Steam? I don't want steam, just the full retail version as a download. So Im thinling of downloading it at amazon, was wondering if anyone else has some experience with that

If you can find it buys the disc of SH5. I've heard of problems getting it from Steam.

They only way I buy any computer game is by buying the disc.

I downloaded my copy of SH5 (as well as SH4) from Amazon. Haven't had a single issue with either program, all mods work just fine and it's as if I installed from the disc.

The only thing you have to do is install the Amazon downloader. It downloads, and then prompts you for install when the D/L is finished. After that you can shut it down and never look at it again if you don't want to.

Downloads are only a convience and can be a problem if you can't find a hard copy. A hard copy is nost always the safest way to buy.

I have bought a disc that has had nothing on it.... blank. Wasn't a game but an addon for a game. I did get one to replace it tho. Kept the blank one as it was autographed by the makers of the addon. It makes a nice coaster for my beer now. LOL

I got my copy from Steam last week. No problems what-so-ever. Mods work fine as well.

Bought mine from Direct2drive, no problems at all with gameplay or any mod additions.

I have all but given up on hard copies and even removed my DVD drive as I was not using it enough and needed the connection for a hard drive.

direct2drive has always been my source for Silent Hunter games.
