![]() ![]() Hi folks....can somebody give some dead easy instructions to get SH3 Commander & GWX 3.0 set up, or point me to an "a-b-c" thread please... I've had GWX working before, but had a major computer crash over a year ago & since then I've been tying myself in knots. Now I've got the basic game installed & hope I can get the rest done too, but I could so easily screw it up.... |

Start with a clean, unmodded installation of SH3 v1.4.
Make sure you have all 7 GWX3 .bin files and the GWX3.exe file in the same location (folder) on your hard drive. Double click the GWX3.exe file to start the installation. If it doesn't find your existing SH3 folder automatically, Browse to point it there. If Privateer were here he would tell you that you must also turn your computer's volume all the way up or the installation won't work, but he is a very naughty boy. ![]() For Commander, make sure you have the most recent release (sticky thread in Mods Workshop Forum should have links, or look for it in the Downloads section here - pretty sure it's available there). Install it. Doesn't have to be installed inside the SH3/GWX game folder, personally I prefer to have it in a separate folder to avoid the possibility of it getting touched if I have to uninstall the game. When Commander is installed, open it and click on the tool icon along the bottom of the interface. In the first window - General Settings - look for "SH3 path" at the top right. If it's not pointing to your existing SH3/GWX game installation, Browse to point it to the correct folder. Click Apply and OK and you should be good to go. ![]() Welcome back and happy hunting! |

Well normally I'd suggest Jimbuna's FileFront page but I've been getting an error when I go there since last night - not sure what's up, I've PMed him about it.
So try here: ftp://hartmuthaas.no-ip.org/Volume_1...%203.0%20GOLD/ If it asks for a username and password: username: Maik password: Woelfe If you can't get directly to the URL above, you can try the main archive page here: ftp://hartmuthaas.no-ip.org/Volume_1...3COMMUNITYMODS Same username/password if needed. Scroll down to Grey Wolf Expansion Mod, click on that, then on GWX3 Gold, and you'll be in the directory that has all the GWX3 files. |

You're welcome!
I think the GWX team is mostly advising people to use Jim's FF page, as the files there are guaranteed OK - was a problem IIRC with some of the files at the other older URLs getting corrupted or not downloading properly. Not sure what FF's problem is right now, I was in there okay once yesterday but access to the page seems to be intermittent at best for the past 18 hours or so. Maik's archive is fairly new and seems to do a great job of keeping everything tidy and up to date, though, so it's always a great go-to source as well. |

Making progress...got GWX exe installed & the Bin files added. Got JGSME, & SH3 Commander....but I've ended up with two SH Cmdr folders within my Game Mods folder.... one has cfg, txt file, dat file, & an exe setup/uninstall. The other has an Adobe text file, & GWX_SH3Cmdr3.2Files_v1.2.exe.
. Should I have both, & if so are they ok in individual folders or not? |

Commander isn't a mod, so it shouldn't be in your game MODS folder.
Did you extract a downloaded zip file for it into your MODS folder, maybe? What you get when you extract the downloaded zip file for Commander, IIRC, is the documentation for installation plus the files needed to install it. The setup.exe file will install Commander, but again - it's a standalone program, not a game mod per se, so it shouldn't really be in your MODS folder. It's not something you'll be instaling into the game, you'll be using it outside the game to make selected changes in some gameplay settings and to manage your career. The other set of files you describe sounds like the config files for Commander 3.2 + GWX, if so that's not for your game MODS folder either. If it's what I think it is, it's a self-installer that adds a couple small things to Commander to make it work much mo' better with GWX3. So - whatever you've downloaded for Commander (including those config files) and extracted into your MODS folder, I'd delete that stuff from your MODS folder and extract that stuff somewhere else on your hard drive and proceed from there. Run the setup.exe for Commander first to install it. Then run the little self-installer .exe file for the Commander/GWX3 config files and let it do what it needs to do to set up Commander to run properly with GWX3. ![]() |
