Help with Destroyer Command Mods

Hi, I'm new to the site, found it yesterday when looking for mods for Destroyer Command. I found some cool mods that are supposed to let you command battleships like the Hood and Bismarck but I can't seem to figure out how you control them in-game. Can someone please tell what you do after the mods are installed?

You will need a mission that allows you to play as those vessels. Stock DC only lets you select the destroyers. Without a scripted mission, the new ships just sit in the databases.

You will need either missions made by the same modder or will need to either hand-write or use Koralle or another editor to make the units available. As far as I know, the units will not appear in the mission generator because it only uses what is coded onto that function.

Do you know if anyone has made tutorials on how to mod DC? I can hand-write any scripts but I need something or someone to give me advice from time to time and keep me relatively on the right track. The ships in the downloads section were authored by Sergbuto and uploaded by Sailor Steve. There's only one map that was authored by Sergbuto; do you think that one would work with the battleships? Also, is it theoretically possible to write a script for any ship in the game and make it a playable vessel? Could I hand write a script for say the Iowa-class battleship or any of the Italian ships to command them in-game?

The only tutorial I found was this document from the own downloads section

http://www.subsim.com/subsim_files/p...H2_EDIT_v1.zip

It says SH2, but both SH2 and DC use the same engine, so the document should be just as useful.

BradR, my name is Captain Rockwell Torry, a long time ago, in the dinosaur days, I made a bunch of mods for Destroyer Command. The mods lets you command everything from Battleships to heavy and light cruisers. These mods used to be available in the download section of subsim, but I guess they have disapeared. Anyway I think I may still have them on my sons old computer hard drive, I'll see if I can find them, and maybe I can reupload them to subsim. Basically you can open any mission in DC with notepad and replace whatever destroyer you are in command of with say NBBIowa and the like and command a battleship or cruiser or whatever you want in the game, you can even command aircraft carriers, but you can't launch aircraft. I also made a WWI mod that lets you command WWI dreadnoughts and the like. I had several missions in both WWI and WWII already made ready to play, and had even made a Warplan Red mod of a hypothetical 1920's war between America and Great Britain. As I say, I'll try to see if I can find the mods, and if so reupload them. I didn't know anyone was still interested in them anymore.

Captain Rockwell Torry

Hey BradR, I looked yesterday out on subsim downloads, and it looks like Neal still has my old mods up for download. Just go to the Sh2 and DC downloads section and you can download them from there, if you want.
