Default Has anyone seen "Black Swan"?

Looking for feedback. I haven't been in a cinema since long, long time, and feel tempted to visit one again. Black Swan looks promising and like the best candidate currently. Golden Globe for Portman, Oscar probably also, very well-meaning critics, it seems. The director before made "The Wrestler", which also was much praised, I read (but I have not seen it).

So...?

Loved it, Cant write you a detailed profesional critic, but I'll just say I loved it.

The story and the script are very well written, the line between her fantasies and reality are blurred even for the wiever, you actually witness what she does in her head. Maybe a bit confusing if you forget that it's a projection of her mind.

Natalie Portman looking good, Mila Kunis even better

And half of the soundtrack is Tchaikovsky himself, what else do you need

I would say see it for yourself - it's a very difficult movie to explain. Actually it's a very difficult movie to watch in general, but in the end I felt very satisfied that I did. It's a brilliant and clever film, but its representation of stress - a very physical one at that - means that for two hours it really grinds you down, or shocks you with some really disturbing moments. Weird as it might be to say for a film about ballerinas, it was probably the most terrifying movie I've seen in ages. But it's totally not entertaining - it's meant to make you think, and any enjoyment of it really derives from thinking about its themes and messages. So it's definitely a very, very artsy kind of film in the way it's made.

Otherwise, Aronofski is kind of an expert by now at exploring the subject of obsession-to-the-point-of-insanity in his movies. What you would've seen in his previous movies on that subject still holds true here - the heroine's obsessiveness really goes way past the point of insanity. And yes, Portman's acting is pretty fantastic.

I kind of doubt I'll watch it again, but I'm glad I saw it in theater.

I've heard loads of R4 reviews of this film... tbh it sounds awful.
Wait for DVD release - not worth the price of today's cinema tickets; but that's how I consider most films these days

Bear in mind they cgi'd some of the 'action', though apparently they don't make it obvious.

I just learned/got reminded of that Aronofski not only did "The Wrestler", which I have niot seen, but also "The Fountain", and that one I have seen. One argument more to see Black Swan.

One German critic (who often gets it right).

Gonna watch it today, not sure if it's my type, but Nat is.

If you watch it here, use Stagevu link 7, no ads or crap like most the other links. Best to start, then pause and let the movie load for about 30 minutes so you don't have buffering. I'll watch one movie, while another loads in the background.
