does anybody know a source for naval desktop wallpapers in HD-quality?

The US Navy website actually has a whole bunch of photo galleries that you can download from, most of them are also available in high resolution.

Go to Google. Select Images. Click Advanced Image Search.

You can filter your image search for whatever image size or quality you are looking for.

I used to browse the DOD's (www.dod.gov? I think it may have changed though) photo galleries. They have excellent, usually daily updates, galleries of all of the US armed forces. I've used many of them as wallpapers.
