Love how Salon links it as /news/ then as /opinion/ - and that is all it is - opinion.

Technically speaking - any soldier that enlists - as Bradley did - could be ordered into confinement. Such an order is not unlawful. Due to the case that this person is facing charges that are tatamount to treason, his incarceration is not unusual.

I do believe every "civilized" nation - including the UK and the rest of Europe, have laws that allow for the incarceration of a person before their trial? Or do you all think you have a murderer, robbier, pedophile, etc identified and just always let them run around on the street till their court date? Yea - didn't think so....

As for his "human" or "civil" rights, realize that by enlisting - he voluntarily suspended his civilian rights under the US consitution for the period of his enlistment. He is not entitled to "trail by jury" or a "speedy trial". Nice? No - but legal and he did it to himself. There is nothing in there that says his human rights are being violated.

As for his "inhumane" treatment - did you actually READ the article? He is under constant supervision - meaning he can do something (against the rules) just to create human contact if he wishes, he has human contact on a daily basis, and is even getting psychological treatment to help him with the stress that his incarceration provides. Did the Viet Cong offer the same to John McCain? Trying to equate one with the other just shows the intentional bias of the writer.

Oh - one other one I like - they show a picture that is supposed to be his cell, note it has a pillow and blankie - but then claim that he doesn't actually get a pillow or something to keep him warm.

How many homeless people are there on your streets tonight? Your governments are all inhumane because it doesnt do what ours does for this guy - give him an indoor, HEATED place to stay, 3 meals a day and proper medical care. See - your the villians now...

Do we really need to play that game? No - because no government can do it all. There are reasons for this guy's detainment - and the reality is that there are those who think what he is accused of doing is not a crime, so there shouldn't be a punishment. They are entitled to that opinion - even when its dumb. But to make something into an anti american rant while ignoring the heat, food and medical attention he is given, just goes to show what the purpose was.

And some of you fell right for it. Instead of hating - why not go to the local park and offer a person in need a ride to a shelter, or whatever help you can. Its easy to point at others and say "your wrong" - but what have you done to make the world better lately? Standing for injustice is always a good thing - doing it for "percieved injustice" when the article itself has the data that invalidates its claims, is merely standing for whatever someone tells you to.....
