That is the setting sunlight striking the contrail of a large twin engined jet aircraft, the sunlight in this scenario is refracting off the thickest and most humidified portion of the contrail as it leaves the engine and trails several hundred ft behind the aircraft. As the humidity of the contrail dissipates, less light is refracted.

Another airplane exhibiting the same phenomenon is visible to the right heading in another direction midway through the vid.

I've seen this happen hundreds and really probably thousands of times in my aviation career.

its nothing to get excited about.

No doubt...contrails. Unlike the rocket plumes over Cali last month.

Helicopter pilots know the difference btwn rockets and contrails.

Let's remember Obama was out of the country at the time. What ever that means.

No way. Those are UFO's for sure.

Not UFO's. A top-secret government project to make us look up in the sky and say, "Holy crawdads!! Lookit that!"

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Oh look at the cooleo pen!

Love that movie!
