Default Unsure On Where To Put Downloads

I'm sure I've seen the answer to this somewhere but can't recall where!

For example....I've downloaded the Lifeboat & Debris v4 mod into a download folder and then put it into the Prog Files>Ubisoft>SH3>Mods folder. I expected it to appear in the menu when I opened JSGME but tis not to be seen! It's definitely in the mods folder but instead of the usual folder icon it has the JSGME icon. If I click on it the, JSGME program opens but L&Dv4 seems to have sunk without trace!

Another mod I downloaded shows as an RAR file......do I just slot this into the Mods file and it will automatically show in JSGME? Or does it require some sort of computer magic dust?

Thanks guys,
Steve.

Sounds like you need to unzip them first. For that you will need a program to do that. I use a free one called 7-Zip. Once you have them unzipped, there should be instructions on how to install them included.

As above...unpack them with 7-Zip into your MODS folder then enable with JSGME.

WinRar is another good unzipper program.

After 3 days I think everytime you open it it'll say "WinRar free has expired. Please remove it from your system and order full version" but if you click close on the message box you can keep using it. I've had my free trial addition for 3+ years now. lol

I used to use WinRar, but I dumped it long ago. 7zip is truly free, and it opens anything.

I may have to take a look at 7zip then.
