Default Gives new meaning to "Money Shot"

Winning $129 million lottery ticket bought at Detroit-area porn store

Quote:
A group of friends got lucky when they bought a winning Powerball ticket at a Detroit-area porn shop.

Mike Greer claimed the $128.6 million prize on Friday, on behalf of a group of southeastern Michigan residents that he dubbed "Team Victory Club." At a press conference in Lansing, Michigan, Greer wouldn't answer questions as to who purchased the ticket at Uptown Book Store in Highland Park, or why they were at the store in the first place.

Why were they in a porn shop? Hmmm Lets think about this. Why would anyone go into a porn shop? Perhaps to... shop...for.... well... porn?

Quote:
Uptown Book Store, an adult novelty store a few miles north of Detroit that also rents pornographic videos, will get $50,000 from lottery officials for selling the winning ticket. It shares a building with the Deja Vu strip club.

I did not know that the store selling the winning ticket gets money. Is this a common practice or only MI? In any case $50,000 to a porn shop is my type of stimulus.

Quote:
Team Victory Club, on the other hand, opted for a lump sum payout of $69.6 million before taxes.

<in my best Bevis and Butthead impression>

Hehehe They said 69 hehehe!

<yeah, I know, I am not very good at it>

They're both in $.

When you pick the single lump sum payout, the prize is reduced. $128mil is based on 28 annual payments. The lotto commission makes a bigger profit that way since they are recieving interest from various investments that allow them to make the larger annual payments. If you take the lump sum, they can't invest that weeks proceeds, so they have to offer less.

That's a bit tight. Bet that's not in the adverts!
I wonder if our national lottery thing does the same?
