Default silent hunter 5 program fault

has anyone noticed the impotence of torpedo hits on this game? when one torpedo goes off but fails to sink a ship or it takes up to 1 hour to sink in some cases if it sinks at all and frequently you have to finish it with gunfire.i have seen this problem all to often.eg i hit 5 ships with one torpedo each in a convoy and plenty of smoke and flames but not one ship sunk, furthermore some of them just sail on with the rest. the torpedos in the game play are not effective enough,in reality one torpedo on a freighter but be more than enough to sink the ship rapidly with the odd exception but seems to be the rule in this game. i would also point out that frieghters and others were in those days coal fired and in game there is hardly any smoke its as though they were electric or diesel in game .historicaly you could see the smoke from a large convoy from fifty miles on a clear day..has anyone else encountered this torpedo impotency?
