I'm not so sure that Christine O'Donnell is a centrist. I'm also not so sure that the Neo-Conservatives that run the Republican Party represent main-stream America any more than the Progressives that run the Democratic Party.

EDIT: To me it is just another case of the pot calling the kettle black.

I'm not a Dem.

EDIT: I am currently a member of the Republican Party, soon to be an Independent. I view the right and the left as equally dangerous, and are not to be trusted. To me, Christine O'Donnell is no better than Nancy Pelosi and I resent this man's attempt to recast the far-right as the new center. I guess what it comes down to is that I don't find guys like Klavan or Olbermann to be funny. I might if I agreed with their views, but I don't.

another attempt by the republicans to try to make everybody seem so far "to the left" so they can get away with being so far to the right.
Stuff the democrats are pushing was normal stuff 50 years ago, and many of our allies have similar programs, but now "it's socialism".

Here's where I'm going to disagree with you. The New Left is definetly far-left. General Motors, for example, has paid back the government loans, but the Treasury Department still continues to hold on it's majority ownership of the corporation, making it very clear that a 'power grab' was the real reason behind the bailout, and that the 'too big to fail' argument was simply a means to that end. Such nationalization of the automotive industry would have been unthinkable 50 years ago.

In that case, Klavan is correct. Where he is incorrect is the assertion that the right represents centrist America.

It was not only a power grab but the union is in the hip pocket.

Woah, woah. Who said that? I have said many times over that the far-right's push towards theocracy was ludicrous, but they do not have a monopoly on insanity. And the style of argument used by both sides, which boils down to 'yeah.....well look what they're doing' is one of the primary reasons that the American political landscape is in such dire condition. The politician no longer runs on his ideas; only on the fact that he is not his opponent. That is not a reason to vote for someone.
