you COULD stop giving your position away... hence not being DCd in the first place.

That's strange what makes this gap? maybe some MOD. I found the Elec engine and battery are the most vulnerable equipment to be destoryed. I list my mod here

Oscar, I am curious what is the type of your boat and how close of the DC exploding from your boat and how many of them to make your battery only has 2%-6% damged? My experience is that 1 DC is closer than 30meters can make your battery level drops to 75%, normaly have 70% health of each battery and 60%-80% health of each elec-engine. 3 DC like this can make your battey level close to 0% and less 20% health of each battery with 100% damage of both elec-engines.

I did a try by modifing the bowbattery and sternbattery's damage zone to null. by this way the batteries are not damaged anyway. but the battery charge level is still decreasing as the DC explodes near the boat. so the the decreasing of the charge level is determined by both battery health and some global HP. the level decreaing caused by former can be re-gained by repairing battery. but decreasing caused by latter is permanent. can not figure out how the goble HP works with charging level.

Haha, finnally I can figure out that the hitpoints of the equipment is actully can be tweaked in data/Zones.cfg. Seems the hitpoints in the equipment.upc are never invoked by the game. there are 3 hippionts relates to the resource of the electricity.
-aftbatteryIX cannot be seen and can not be repaired by the crewmen
-ForeBattery correspnding to the bowbattery displayed on GUI. can be repaired.
-aftbattery corresponding to the sternbatttery displayed on GUI. can be repaired.

On the note of realism, the batteries and motors were not shock-proofed, so it's pretty likely that they would be the first things to go in a depth charge attack...
