The ultimate guide to manual targeting is Wazoo's Manual Charting & Targeting Tutorial [v 2.3]
http://www.paulwasserman.net/SHIII/ This video is also pretty good, though it isn't at maximum realism:

welcome.
I've only just switched to collecting data for the TDC manually and I've been playing for a lot longer than a month, so if you are struggling with it then you are not the only one. Check out the guides posted by Panser, if you are still having problems then keep the Weapons Officer assitance on, he's always right. that way you can collect the data yourself and then see if you were right by asking him for a solution. |

Doing manual targeting right out of the box is most ambitous, many experienced players decline to do it (usually out of preference and saving time and frustration). For manual targeting I'd suggest that you use the OLC Gui mod, its been around for a long time and (arguably) the best scope out there.
You get all the info you need from sliding the rings around which mechanically will compute most of the data you need. From my experience, its made (for me) an operation that was once extremely difficult down to something hard. It's been around when I started playing in 2006, and just kept improving over time, there's a plethora of people that can help on how to use it (and there's some good tutorial videos for it as well). |

Ahoy and welcome, Can!
![]() No tips on manual targeting from me as I am still relying on Mr. Triangle to help with that particular chore. But I can echo what most others have said, you've found the right place for answers to your SH3 questions. ![]() |

WELCOME ABOARD!
![]() I have Manual Targetting set, but also WE Assistance. It takes longer since I have him take several readings even though he doesn't need to. It's just as easy but at least it 'feels' more real.
