Hi,
Yesterday I found a link to the Battle for Wesnoth game while browsing the Elemental: War of Magic forums (a game that was just released in a deplorable unplayable state). Unlike Elemental, Battle for Wesnoth is fully functional and playable, and I found it to be quite fun. Now I know you're all playing Starcraft 2 right now and have no time for anything else. But for others who didn't get into Starcraft 2 (yet?) but appreciate a nice RTS, try this out, after all, it's free: http://www.wesnoth.org/ The catch is that it's a turn-based game. I was skeptical of a turn-based hex-boarded 2D sprite game at first too, but believe me, turn-based is great: he who makes the best moves and tactics win, not he who clicks the fastest or memorized every hotkey. It's simpler than War/Starcraft though, there's no technology or base-building/resource gathering. You occupy towns for income and recruit units with your General unit (a-la Total Annihilation) at the Keeps. Units level up to become more powerful. Note that the screenshots don't make justice to the prettiness of the sprites in full 1680x1050 glory. It's prettier than it looks on compressed jpegs. And that's it. Enjoy. P.S.: I'm using the 1.8.4 version.
