Default Finally got the carrier

The trick to finding where the elusive carrier lies with clicking on the ports. I found that Portsmouth is the home base for the Ark Royal and detected the Task Force with that carrier. It was dark and with a lucky shot I sent 3 torps- one sank a DD and the other two did that Ark Royal in.

g4u. i justnailed a nelson and completed force H task for it. it OWNED! laggy as F though. theres was like 15 destroyers Escorting and it was like 2 FPS a second. TERRRRRIBLE. Any1 wanna know the best way to find it?

http://174.123.69.202/~subsimc/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166051

that thread shows the circle in which its found. just keep patrolling and eventually youll find it. only had 3 torps left cause i was so pissed that for the 1 billionth time nearer to Gib that a task force was devoid of a BB, so i took it out on some corvettes. 3 missed. i fired 2 at one corvette, and i have the crit hit torp mod on, so it burst into flame and split in 2. overkill FTW. i couldnt see the nelson sink because it was soooooooooo laggy. and im just so pleased. just so pleased.....

Does it lag that much? I can have 25 ships on a fire here without any lag at all. And I mean zero lag, its totally fluid. I use a nvidia gtx 280 graphics card 1 GB graphics ram though.

my comp is fine, but having to control all those, AND struggle with the BAD graphics card (ati radeon 3200= OOOOOOOOOLD) is i guess too much.

Btw, do anyone know if the ships you sink will be respawned again. In some of the game files I saw that some special ships had a variable called "IsDead=True/False".. I wonder if only the special ships will be permanently dead.

I have noticed that in one occasion I sunk a british battleship, and the very next day I saw the same ship sailing off the coast of ireland.

AFAIK this variable relates to the entry "IsUnique=yes/no" in the \roster\...\sea\anyship.cfg. As long as there are ships left in section [Unit1], [Unit2], etc. there will be units of this kind be generated in the campaign - if variable "IsUnique" is set to "yes". This makes sure that there will be no more e. g. battleships of the Bismarck class once Bismarck and Tirpitz has been sunk. If it's set to "no", the game continues with the random production of these units - which is desirable for freighters etc.

I found the Ark Royal in Plymouth but it's not moving. I've waited a couple of days and it's just sitting there. Of course sinking it here won't help achieve my objective but will attacking something outside the port area wake them up and get that task group moving so I can sink her on the move?

I sunk her in Plymouth, and if your talking about the Blockade of Germany camp. right? i think, it didn't do anything for the camp. Ive only been on patrol once and she hasn't been in Plymouth, but I forget the dates for the life of me

Yeah, sorry, it's the Blockade of Germany campaign alright. It's currently 1/14/40 and that's the only carrier I've been able to find hunting all around the British Isle so I was hoping that it would leave port as I've read sinking it in port does the campaign no good. Oh well. Off to hunt some more. Thanks for the reply.

I have sunk it in Plymouth too, got no update for the Blockade Germany so I have reloaded and sitting waiting for it to leave.

Anyone know if it does leave?

I have found planes flying around the south carrirer area but have been unable to trace them back to a ship!!!

I got the credit when I sank the Carrier off Plymouth. She was with about 6 DDs and I had to send my torps way off the bow to intercept her. As for ships in port those armored merchants were all lined up in Loch Ewe. Stationary or moving I got to end that mision with the kills.

I sat in Plymouth for 3 days and the Ark Royal never left. So I went south a little and got a Carrier returning to port after 3 days!! It was a small one but it counted!!!

I was just going to tell you this. I did the same basically. Waited around Plymouth for what seemed like forever and then gave up. Headed S.E. toward France and sank a tanker and then saw that there was now an icon for a task force just off Plymouth harbor. I did a quick 180 at flank and found them and raced ahead as fast as I could (thankfully it was night time so their visibility was impaired a bit. 2 torps was all that was needed and the Ark Royal was history. Dove to 120m and headed west. All those destroyers never even found me. I then ran into a 12 ship convoy going my way and within the "British Supplies" mission area. So I then sunk 9 more ships to get a good head start on that mission. Took a lot of damage for those uncanny merchants (one kept nailing me from 2500m while I was doing 20kts away from him. Lost 52% of my hull integrity! Way too friggin' accurate!!!
