Default Make The Yelling Stop Already!!!

If you read about my embarrasing mishap in the thread entitled "I'm a Moron", than you know I recieved some minor damage to the boat which was repaired quickly. The problem I have now, is that here we are days later, and my men are still shouting out orders as though we were still takeing damage. What's that about? It's very irritating to say the least. I found myself on more than one occasion yeling at the monitor telling these guys to shut up already!

They will yell until the damage is fixed. Sometimes, if you toggle silent running they will stop but most of the time, your stuck with it if you have irrepairable damage.
For me, that is THE MOST aggravating bug in this game. Once you dock, everything will be back to normal.

Yeah, I have deliberately finished patrols early with most of my fish left, just because I couldn't stand the shouting anymore.

I have made a kind of workaround for my install.
It doesn't actually solve the problem as such, that's a hard coded issue.

But I have replaced all the 'Shouty' speech files with the 'Calm' speech files.
So even after you have taken damage the crew sound calm and relaxed.

This does have the undesirable side effect that no matter what sort of scheisse you are in, the crew will not talk with any sort of urgency.
You could be under fire from the Yamato and being dive bombed by dozens of Bettys, and your crew will still calmly report your orders.
Like they are on Mogadon or Prozac. Man they're serene!
You can view this as a bit of an immersion killer.

However, I feel it is a small price to pay to avoid the following situation.

No enemy around for hundreds of miles.
All ahead full, make depth 150 feet.

'Yes Sir.'
'All ahead full sir.'
'New Depth.'
'150 feet sir.
'
'Yes Sir.'

Or the even more ludicrous

Rig for silent running
'Yes Sir.'
'Rig for silent running.'

I'll upload it if anyone wants to try it out.

Yes, please upload your workaround...the crew yelling makes me want to "grab them by the collar, slap them in the face and growl..'Get a grip on yourself, sailor' "
