Default America in Color 1939 - 1943 (photo gallery)

http://extras.denverpost.com/archive/captured.asp

A nice window into history with some very nice shots

#65 with the P-51 mustang has to be my favorite of the bunch.

A stunning portrayal of the pepole that made America great.

#28 Ahead of its time?

The railway shots... I may borrow a few.

A gem of a find thanks for sharing.

These are very cool. You really get a good idea of what life was like. What a different time than what we know today.

That's the P-51A Mustang with the Allison engine...it almost cost the P-51 its legacy, because the performance was mediocre. Then the P-51B came along and married the airframe to the Merlin engine and history was made!

#26 ... that picture reminded me a lot of home, and then I read the caption. Pretty close!

These are some amazing pictures.

EDIT: Just saw #27. Ha! Wonderful!

Great pictures! Interesting to see how it was back then.

53 is great, easy to forget how enormous the steam locomotives were. Puts it in perspective when there's a person beside it.

H Class locomotive. Never heard of that one.

Found it.
