Hello all,
I am just getting back into SH3 with GWX 3.0, and i understand that the malfunction setting in SH3Cmdr is not to be used due to possible CTD's. I was wondering if anyone has managed to find any workaround so that some form of malfunctions can be used, maybe via the randomisation folders in SH3Cmdr? I searched the forums and it seemed LGN was carrying out some work in this area, did anything ever come of it? would really appreciate any feedback on this regards slipper ![]() |

Maybe this thread helps:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=157490 Conclusio: If the Hex positions in the data files like AI_Sensors.dat GUNS_SUB.sim Cameras.dat Sensors.sim Sensors.dat NSS_Uboat7b.sim NSS_Uboat7c.sim NSS_Uboat9b.sim NSS_Uboat9c.sim NSS_Uboat9d2.sim NSS_Uboat21.sim have been changed by modders and these changes have not been considered in the Randomized Events.cfg, this MAY lead to a CTD in conjunction with Sabotage & Malfunction. So it's not the Sh3Cmdr in itself that causes the problems. Last edited by h.sie; 08-06-10 at 02:23 AM. |

When GWX3 was first released the team hadn't updated the SH3Cmdr config files, thus users were warned not to use the mal/sub option lest they get CTDs.
But that was rectified by the team back in Jan 2009 with the release of updated config files. GWX3 and SH3Cmdr are now fully compatible. If, however, you enable any subsequent mods that have not been "endorsed" by the GWX team, you are on your own...and this includes modifications to files that H.sie refers to above. |

Thanks very much for the replies all.
If then for example i backed up all the following files from my modded game AI_Sensors.dat GUNS_SUB.sim Cameras.dat Sensors.sim Sensors.dat NSS_Uboat7b.sim NSS_Uboat7c.sim NSS_Uboat9b.sim NSS_Uboat9c.sim NSS_Uboat9d2.sim NSS_Uboat21.sim Then selected 'sabotage and malfunctions' from SH3Cmdr. If i then had a problem could i just reinstall my backed up files above, to 'reset' the game? or does it not work like that? thanks again for your help regards slipper |

You are correct. Use JSGME to install mods. It automatically backs up your original files. If CTD happens, just deinstall the responsible mod via JSGME. Great Tool.

Hi slipper,
I have created and use a malfunction version that mainly relies on the text files in SH3. Only the u-boats' sim files are touched (these files are not modded that frequently like the camera.dat file). However, I never released the mod for several reasons. Cheers, LGN1 |

Thanks for the reply, shame you never released your malfunction mod. I'm not that confident on creating my own so i might take a chance with the standard SH3Cmdr files. regards slipper |

Hi,
I did not release it because it touches the u-boat's sim files and the dials.cfg file which is modded by most GUI mods. Given the fact that a wrong hex offset can lead to a CTD I consider it too risky to release it. Send you a pm. Cheers, LGN1 |
