Default sound of silence

I am into first patrol in this much improved game, which is all down to the mods . Haven't found any enemy ships yet, but then this is early days. Did get buzzed by a plane is all. However, optimism is a little dimmed by my inability to suss out how to listen on the sonar ( hydro??) for myself. I can turn the dial, though it is awkward with the mouse, but even with electric motors off I cannot pick up any sounds at all. You would expect to hear background 'noise' sea sounds wouldn't you? Is this my ineptitude or is this something that needs fixing? If so I do hope it can be as that is a big part of the game for me

Have you tried listening to the hydro below periscope depth. I know that the mod: Historical Specifications 1.4 by ddrgn makes the hydrophone not work until you go past ~16m or so. Try going deeper and take a listen. However, even when surfaced, if you go to the hydrophone station, you should be able to hear something(background noise) unless you have a mod installed that is disabling it. If going deeper does not work, could you post the list of mods that you are using?

I will try that SteelViking - though I have already tried 40 meters down with no joy.

I may be doing something wrong of course!

I am using TDW New UI (3_7_0)

Church's Keyboard ver 1.1

Improved waves and pitch.

I think I read on someone's thread that historical specs does not work well with a particular version of TDW New UI, so am holding back from trying that.

Gotta go do big eats for two cats and a hubs now. Be back later

Yes lostsm, if you enter the hydrophone station, you can rotate it using the mouse wheel. I believe that you have to hover the mouse over the wheel on the hydrophone station in order for it to work.
