Silent Hunter 3 MMOS

What would it be like to play sh3 online, with the rest of the world? imagine meeting up with your friends and completely decimated the convoy you are after!

it would be totally cool, but one thing that would be dificult to do would be the long paatrol times. i assume you would have to use some warp speed teleporter thingy (sort of like the old go back to base button) to get from place to place.

what are your thoughts on this, and can this be achieved?

.. create an account on ubi.com...... this game still works onlne you just have to wait for a game to be created or create your own and wait for ppl to join.... you dont do full patrols it will drop your pack about 10k from a convoy.... but you cant use time compression of course..... just click the multplayer tab and go from there.
once i do my reinstall on monday il create a game and see if u can find it and join... we will see how it goes together

also, on a topic non related to this thread, wwould it be possible to have the flak guns fire at ships? i know you can make the deck gun fire at planes (or was it just a bug?).i remember once in sh3 vanilla, the engage aircraft sign popped up, and then the deck gun began firing at the b24 bomber! it hit it on the first hit!

and also in gwx, some time ago in gwx 2.0, the deck gun crew would engage the blimps in a test mission i made. so, if you can do that, then probablythe flaks can fire on ships too....

The only way I've been able to use the flak/AA guns on ships is to man the gun personally and fire it myself. This would be in GWX3, I never tried in stock.

If I order the crew to man the flak gun and order them to fire at will, nothing happens. The firing orders for the flak gun seem to refer only to aircraft - nearest fighter, nearest bomber, etc. I suspect the game is hardcoded to recognize only aircraft as appropriate targets for "auto-fire" of the flak guns (crew operating and firing at will). Or if there's a mod to make them auto-fire at ships I pick out from the bridge, I don't know of it.

Of course it could be I didn't do it right when I tried to order my flak gunner to fire on a ship and then misunderstood what was happening and why. Anyway, I enjoy firing it at ships myself... would never try it with aircraft, if I'm going to take them on at all I'll leave it to my flak gunner. He does a much better job with aircraft than I could ever manage.

Silent Hunter 3 MMO?

sure.....

We could grind XP on coastal vessels, so we can gain a level and be able to buy better torpedos. After that we'll grind on some tramp steamers, so we can gain another level and buy a better submarine. After that, we'll move to another area and grind on C2's.

Sooner or later we could go camp for The black Flowing Silk Supercharger to uberize our boats engines Then go camp for rubicite steel, to upgrade the pressure hull for greater crush depth. After that, we'll go camp for ahh..... DestroyerBane, the uber torpedo tube. We'll need that when we go for the Boss destroyer.

Then we can hang out at Irongrill's bar and casino, spam trade messages, check Game mail, shop for equipment on the auction hall, and stand around looking cool and compare each other to see who has the best white hat.
