Default SH5 Gold Edition

So SH5 drops to half price and Gold comes out. Get SH5 Gold Edition at amazon for 59.99 but why? What does the Gold Edition offer that's different?

SH5 Gold

This is what I found out. Non-playable subs and ships? What a rip! And this being the Gold Edition does this mean the end of the line for SH5? No more patches?

-----------------------------------

The Gold Edition will be available for download only and will contain seven unique submarines and enemy ship skins. The Gold Edition will also include the Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic Official Guide containing 110 pages of crew details, submarines, ships and weapons as a pdf on the build.
Includes three famous non-playable historical U-Boats:

  • U-99 (type VIIB) – submarine of U-boat ace Otto Kretschmer
  • U-30 (type VIIA) – submarine of U-boat ace Fritz Lemp
  • U-552 (type VIIC) – submarine of U-boat ace Erich Topp
Includes four famous Allied ships:
  • HMS Duke of York (King George V battleship class) – the ship responsible for sinking the German battlecruiser Scharnhorst and carrying Churchill to America in one occasion.
  • HMS Walker (V&W destroyer class) – ship commanded by Donald Macintyre during the battle for convoy HX112 which led to the capture of top U-boat ace Otto Krestschmer (U-99) and death of U-boat ace Joachim Shepke (U-100)
  • HMS Stork (Black Swan sloop class) –flagship of the famous commander Walker, leading the 2nd Support Group flotilla assigned to U-boat hunting
  • HMS Suffolk (Kent cruiser class) –famous British cruiser involved in the battle of Norway and the sinking of the German battleship Bismarck

The Gold Edition was released
March 29, 2010

I have it.

Don't waste your money!
Buy the cheapest edition you can find.
The 'Gold' was just a market scheme to sell more copies.

Does the Gold Edition include patches that can't be downloaded?

No.
The Collectors Edition had a few extra dodads that the Gold Edition did not.
Like a pin on twirley hat or something.
The Gold Edition grabbed suckers like me.
(Even had a Fleet Boat DVD that was cool)

I've not heard of anyone getting the cheapest version or what it's missing compared to the other "Sucker" versions.

**DON'T DO IT!!**

Gold Version is worthless, save your money. All the "skins" are in the game already, you don't need gold for that. The "manual" is utterly worthless.

Save your money, get the normal version. Gold = crap. Also it came out when the normal game came out. Gold is essentially the US version of the Collector's Edition without any value to it (no soundtrack which I'm still searching for...)

It's only worth it if the disk is made of real gold.

Make sure you ask to make sure before you purchase

I mean the soundtrack as MP3s. The EU Collector's version came with a soundtrack CD. There's still music in game if that's what you thought I meant.

Ubi went crazy with different versions - there were about four to choose from, depending on where you lived it was a bit of a mess. The 'gold' edition was an original version and is not like the usual 'gold edition' where the original game and the expansion pack come out together.

And some old bugs are fixed.
Perhaps we are suspended from the Ubi-Suport ,the server also cost the money.
Now I think then we can be properly crativ, since then the game is complete.

This Gold edition must be a joke. I'm still waiting for a gold release.

To quote webopedia:

The gold version is the final version of the software as it will be released to the public. Most or all known bugs prior to release are fixed, and all intended functions for final release are implemented
