most likely its a conflict with your video card (shaders maybe) and probably not a directx issue but the fact that it has caused you problems is good to know about

I think in your particular case, it's best take your computer to your favourite PC-shop, tell them which game you want to play, and ask them to upgrade the graphics-part for you....and most of all, tell them your budget.

just letting you folks know that installing the June 2010 version of Directx will cause problems in SH5.

Try this :

Open GrannyShaders.cfg from "data/shaders/Granny/CompiledGrannyShaders"

Set
GrannyPS_CRC=0
GrannyVS_CRC=0

Then start the game.

It will trigger a shader recompilation, maybe that's the cause.

By at least you need a Nvidia 8800/9800GT , and better the 8800/9800GT version with 1Gb of memory instead of 512Mb memory , the increased memory amount can help with this SH5 game

May be you missunderstood , this SH5 game ask for a minimum of 8800GT with 512Gb memory RAM , the 8600GT performance is below 8800/9800GT , which motherboard and CPU processor you have ?

That's why I adviced you to go to that PC-shop for help...suppose we advice you to go buy some video-card, then you still need to install the new hardware, remove old drivers, install new ones, configure the settings etc. etc.
That would be allot of additional questions for you, and for us to answer.

A PC-store can do it for you in 30mins, and you can even ask permission to watch them doing the job...so you'll learn, and can do it yourself next time.

It's not that we don't like to help people...but I think this way ^^ it's just easier.
