I have a HP Scanjet 3570c scanner! During the time of my old PC (Win Xp, SP2) , I had this problems: Any time I got the scanner working I had messages of needing to install again the drivers and etc, I just canceled and move on. The software worked fine. And after some using time, I got a message saying that the device was not correctly connected and to check the cable/conections and etc. I resolved this by rebooting the PC and everything was fine again.
A few months ago I change my pc for a new one, still have XP (SP3) and installed the scanner and my old printer (HP PhotoSmart 1000). I got same problems with the scanner because after instalation, I could launch the HP director. After some exploration in the Hp web site, I found a pacth that correct this problem. But I retain the problem after some use, I got the message saying that the device was not correctly connected and to check the cable/conections and etc. I resolved this by rebooting the PC (again) and everything was fine again. This week I change my printer. The old one got damage and so got a new one (just printer, not a combo) and installed the programs/drivers. I got a new HP director/launcher program and etc, that besides the printer, I had the scanner opions and etc. Oki, fine by me. Yesterday I developed 2 films and today began to scan it. A few moments ago I got the same error message (saying that the device was not correctly connected and to check the cable/conections and etc). Oki, let's rebbot the PC and continue scanning, but this time the error continued. Already I desintaled the drivers and etc a few times and re-installed and noting (also I had some error withs the printer hp sofware or something, arrgghhh). The HP launcher just detectets the printer and no scanner. If I go directly to the scanning program/software it display the massage or not detecting the scanner and etc. Right, any got the same head pain with a simmilar problem? Any advice ho to resolve it? Or should I by a new scanner? |

Is it a USB, SCSI or Parallel port device? I assume USB, once you install the device always use the same USB port, plugging in another will have this effect, if this is not the problem try cleaning the connectors by spraying with electronic cleaner/solvent.

Found out the problem. The power transformer burned out... I thought of being a software problem, but after all it was a more simple cause. Time to get a new scanner!
