Cheer up Buddy, there is no such thing as a dumb question. You may get some dumb answers though. And I don't know the situation you speak of but as far as I am concerned if they thought they were "wasting their time" they have the choice to not answer you. So if we answer you, then we don't consider it a 'waste of time'. I am sure the person or persons involved appreciate the apology, but I am also sure they probably didn't consider it necessary.

Every one makes mistakes and forgets things, and need to ask questions.

If your game is really messed up, uninstall all your mods, see if it is still messed up. If it is uninstall it, reinstall it and start fresh.
It doesn't take that long to do.
Do you have 1.5 or are you still using 1.4? The old brain is getting worn out.

Default Reinstalling

If you do a re-install be sure to rename the folder(s) in your My Documents section. You can't get a clean install if there are old files there.

I just rename mine, install and test load, then copy the SH folder that I had renamed back to the SH4 folder created by the new install.

Then test a load. If the files were not corrupted previously, you should be able to reload a save.

Good luck.

Hey, look how long I have been here and I still cannot find things. Luckily, this forum is full of some really great people who help stupid buggers like me to find their way around.

Seriously: I do have a memory problem.

Now, where was I?
