Default New Guy With ?'s

Hey all - I recentlly installed SH3 (and4) on a new computer. If I remember right they use something called Starforce for copy protection and there may be issues with it. Is it a problem? I have an old article which tells how to remove it, but if i do I'll need some kind of patch or no cd exe to run the game? What should I do? Thanx in advance...

The only problems I encountered with starforce was with windows 7. If you do encounter issues, go to this thread:

Thanks - I'm running XP and it seems ok - I just remember there being some kind of Starforce controversy when the game was new.

Newer copies of the game (whether disk or download) don't include the original Starforce DRM, so unless you've got an older copy you're probably not gonna have to worry about it.

Oh and welcome aboard!

Hi - disk, and box are dated 2005 - so i'm guessing it's the original

It is. I ran down to a local computer store and bought a brand-new copy for $10. No StarForce, no disc in the drive, and it came bundled with SH2.

Good. Just for future reference: even though UBI released their own no-CD download, it's still considered not a good idea to discuss any hacks or cracks here. It's in the rules, even for the 'good' ones.

Just so ya know.

Hi - I went to the Grey Wolves site - that looks amazing - in other news now my game wont patch so, screw it, I'll just run the cd/Starforce version for now and probably spring for the $10 SH2/3 bundle. The SH4 gold package looks pretty good as well.

It is. Having all the patches and the U-boat side all in one packages is a treat. Nothing to worry about but which mods you're going to run.
