Salut Lesec

the food mod would be great, it adds more realism to the game to cut of patrols for food, or die without it

Can you name a single real life patrol that was cut short because of food? Did it ever happen? If not, then it doesn't add realism, it takes it away.

well al i know some patrols did cut off because food also to rottens and in some casses thrown of the ship, and if you sail on half speed or a head on third your food will run out faster than your diesel (as far is know)

All you know? Believing something is not the same as knowing it. I asked if you could name one. I've looked long and hard over several years and I can't. They carried enough food to make sure it outlasted the fuel on board.

There is always fish for breakfast - fish soup for lunch and fish stew for supper

All this is true. But the idea, thats already been discussed, about having lots of food visable to start with which gradually disappears over the coase of the patrol is still valid.
I remember reading a long time ago in some book? that discribed the conditions onboard when setting off. With all the torpedoes and food crammed in everywere there was scarcely enough room for those off duty to stretch their hammocks. All the fresh fruit and veg. dissapeared first but it wasn't untill a few torpedoes had been fired that the crew could enjoy a wee bit of space. I guess a lot depended on the type of sub it was also, but the larger subs had more crew, torpedoes, and went out longer.
I look forward to seeing this mod develop one day and perhaps seeing the crew growing beards and longer hair.

Very much so. Flakmonkey did the mod for SH3 which does exactly that. The only problem he had is that the food had to be tied to the fuel, so they both ran out at the same time. The visible food needs to run out a lot faster. The fresh food didn't stay fresh for long, so it had to be consumed first. After that they dug into the tinned goods, which could last for months in their cans.

I read a lot about fuel problems or running out of torpedoes, but never about food, including lon range patrols to africa and caribbean.
