What would if take to have crew management a la sh-3 and sh-4? Is this hard coded or is there room for modding?

After seeing what's been so far, I'm confident that it's technically possible to replicate the crew management from earlier games. The problem is it would be a monumental undertaking.
Something along the lines of a custom page with the crew on it, then tie that into the various components of the ship's performance. Even before that though you'd need to work out exactly how you'd want it to work since there's really nothing in the current game like the previous that I've seen working. It's possible, but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. |

I know it's not everybody's cup of tea but I really miss crew management.
The campaign follows a very linear story at the moment so I guess it would take a lot of work to implement, but as Kylania said, not impossible. And there is a lot of talent in this forum... ![]() |

OK, just dreaming now...:
1. A 3-shift (or "watch") system, rotating every 4 hours / 6 hours for the engine crew. Crew members (at least the main characters) would be either a) at their duty station, b) somewhere in the boat spending their free time or c) on their bunks sleeping. Depending on the time of day, you would meet and talk to different people when walking through the sub. I think the most important thing here would be that each watch would be lead by the I WO, the II WO or the Navigator (either on the bridge or in the command room when submerged). When calling for battle stations, every crew member would move to the respecive station. 2. I would love to see historically correct abilities / functions tied to the different characters, like: - I WO: leading the first watch on the bridge, torpedo weapon and shooting - II WO: leading the second watch on the bridge, deck gun and AA shooting - Navigator: leading third watch on the bridge, assisting in finding a target solution - LI: dive control, repairs, technical stuff and improvements And so on... Actually, I like the idea of the bosun and the cook having an influence on the morale of the crew. OK, that was just a little day dream. Maybe some talented modder makes it come true some time. ![]()

recently opened this topic...seems to be a minor interest. but to me, the old style crew management is a must for the immersion of this game. it must be more personal...
