Default Aargh, i hate pc world sales staff!!!

(Dont mind me im just venting some frustration!)

My ps3 bit the dust recently so i decided to buy a cheap-ish bluray player as a replacement.
Went to my local pc world store this morning and found a good player, no problems there, but what the heck is it with these sales guys trying to get me to buy the most expensive hdmi cable in existence.

He spent a good 15 mins trying to convince me that a £49.99 hdmi cable would give me far superior picture/sound quality to a standard £2-3 cable.
I tried to fight my corner and explain that i wasnt a total moron and that a digital signal is in no way affected by cable quality/gold connectors/shielding etc, its digital, you either get a signal or you dont, but he was having none of it.
He even went and fetched a chap from their installations department to explain that because he was a qualified installations engineer he could say with certainty that my cheap cable would result in fuzzy/sparkly picture quality and analogue quality sound... what a load of crap.

Now i know these guys work on commision but to tell outright lies to sell you stuff you dont need is unforgivable, needless to say i walked out without buying either the cable or the player.

...Right im done now.

Morons, they should realize that if they leave you alone, or recommend you something cheaper but similar quality, that they will make there $$ because you will be back to get more stuff.

Also, sounds like " eager beaver " is on commission

Good decision....serves the buggas right

I go in on the odd occasion to do some price comparisons with my local wholesaler....can't remember the last time I purchased anything

That reminds me of the time I helped a friend buy a computer at Best Buy. The salesman tried to pressure her into buying an extended warranty "because computers only last a year before they start breaking down."

The whole 'cable' market has gone nuts.

Have you seen the prices on cat 5 jumpers these days?

They have gone from 3-5 bucks to up to and over 20 bucks a piece.

Same cable.

Do what my friend Rocky does. He was in a store and saw a 42" Plasma TV discounted for quick sale. He told the salesman he wanted it and the guy immediately went into 'bait-and-switch' mode, trying to tell him how much more wonderful his life would be if he bought the one that cost twice as much.

Every time the guy finished a sentence Rocky would smile and say "Thanks. I'll take this one."

"Thanks. I'll take this one."

"Thanks. I'll take this one."

Apparently when they get no other response these guys wear out pretty fast.

Aye,

these guys are annoying, I'm someone who made his mind up before I go to the shop on what to get....if they aproach me to ask me if I need any help I just kindly wave them off that I don't require their help..so far they all moved on to the next customer.
I go to the check out, pay and leave.

Here we don't have that problem. They ask if you need help. You say no they walk away... I pickup what I want and pay and have a great day.. Thats good service.. But they know too who to scam and who to just say naw...
