I'm playing GWX and using MaGui 3. Although I've learned to live without the colored contacts and contact tails (and like it better!), I still really miss having an indication of my own sub's course -- i.e., my own sub's tail. When I zoom in, I can see my sub's heading by the full directional grid, but most of the time I spend zoomed out, and I miss having a graphical indication of my sub's heading on the chart.
I've tried installing GWX2.0 Grey Tails, but that didn't seem to do anything. Is anyone aware of a mod that will do this, or even if there's a way to do it manually?

Thats strange. I have it on GWX 3.0, and I have a tail.
Are you using a lower one, like 2.0?

Try the contact color mod, I think that might've added a tail for me, if i recall correctly.

Grey contacts w/o tails, but my sub *with* a tail. I'll put in your mod just to see if my tail comes back and then decide if I'm willing to sacrifice the realism for some convenience. ![]()

FWIW, that worked like a charm! Of course my ship contacts have them too, but I happily ignore the exact orientation of the tails on the contacts and just use the text direction (NNE, etc.) to do my plotting to avoid having too much info.
Removing the colors are easier said then done -- I thought I'd go into the mod and see 3 different files for friend, foe and neutral, but it's apparently more complicated than that? ![]() ![]()

After digging around a bit in the mods a bit, I discovered that the reason that GWX2.0 Grey Tails didn't work is that it wasn't a JSGME-enabled mod (I actually had to copy the files manually - OMG, so much work!
![]() But seriously, once I did that, I could remove the Contact Colors Mod and have almost exactly what I wanted - grey contacts and a tail on my sub. I even decided to modify my copy of the mod to work with JSGME so I wouldn't have to worry about it any more. The only thing that would make it better is to have the sub tail without contact tails, but I'm not even sure if that's possible since the tail seems to be the same file for all ships? So thanks for all the suggestions and help -- it enabled me to figure out what was going on and get it fixed. ![]()

Assisted Plotting has a sub tail and no contact tails... well, no contact marks at all!

Heh-heh -- good point. I'm not quite ready for that yet, but hopefully soon I'll get good enough to step it up to that level.
